Lyrics

"Go to Nineveh," said Hashem, "and call out to that town," But Yonah ran to Yafo, took a ship and sailed down. A storm came on the sea, the wind began to roar, The sailors cried in fear and threw their cargo overboard. They cast lots, it fell on Yonah, "Tell us who you are!" "I'm an Ivri, I fear Hashem, who made the sea and land. Pick me up and throw me in, the sea will calm," he said, And a great big fish was waiting, sent by Hashem instead. Three days and three nights in the belly of the fish, Yonah davened from the depths with one heartfelt wish. It's never too late to turn around and say, "Hashem, I'm coming back," teshuvah starts today. The fish spit him on dry land, and Hashem called once more, So Yonah went to Nineveh and called out at its door: "Forty more days, and Nineveh will be overturned!" And the people of the city listened, and they turned. They fasted and wore sackcloth, the king came down from his throne, They left their evil ways, and the violence they had known. Hashem saw what they did, how they changed from deep inside, And Nineveh was spared, His mercy open wide. Three days and three nights in the belly of the fish, Yonah davened from the depths with one heartfelt wish. It's never too late to turn around and say, "Hashem, I'm coming back," teshuvah starts today.
